As I've told you before, Matt got me hooked on Coldplay when we were first dating. Well, shortly before our wedding, I had a Vitamin String Quartet Pandora channel where I found some of our ceremony music, and one day I heard a band called Old School Freight Train that was playing a bluegrass version of "Yellow." Well, I loved their cover, but then in the hubbub of everything else that was going on, I totally forgot about it.
For some reason it popped into my head the other day, so I went onto iTunes to see if they had covered any more Coldplay songs. Turns out there was a whole album, "Pickin' on Coldplay," where they covered several songs from Coldplay's "Parachutes" and "Rush of Blood to the Head" albums. Which I promptly bought.
And then I figured I needed to share this, in case anyone else is a fan of bluegrass. Or Coldplay. Or music in general. But "In My Place" was the only one that I could find of a full song that wasn't interrupted by weird things. So click here to preview all the songs. My favorites are "Yellow," "The Scientist" and "Sparks." :)
Do you like music covers, or do you prefer to stick to the originals?
I loooove music covers, and I'm on a bit of a bluegrass-y kick right now so this is right up my alley!
ReplyDeleteMy husband also got me hooked on Coldplay when we started dating! We are going to see them in August and I cannot wait. Anxious to listen to these covers!
