October Wrap-Up

Bring on November! I'm ready for Thanksgiving and the Catching Fire movie premiere and our church's second annual 42 Tournament and Chili Cookoff!

Going Vegetarian
I shared my 30-day recap, and I liked that format so much that I'm going to do it again at 60 days. So you'll just have to wait. (I promise I won't do a food recap every single month forever, but I'm still adjusting to life as a pescatarian/vegetarian, and I think my experience could be helpful to others. For at least a little while longer.)

But I gotta say, I almost decided I wasn't going to eat fish anymore either after a challenge on The Amazing Race two weeks ago, when they had to impale fish heads on a pole to string them together for fish head soup. Gag.

Mmm. Wheelbarrow full of fish heads. via

Completed: Day 51 of 90. (That is, assuming I only keep it up for the three months required by my Life List.)

Reading Challenge: Read Through the Bible in a Year
Is this challenge over yet? I'm getting tired. I slacked off enough this month that I wasn't really ahead anymore around the middle of the month. This challenge is way tougher than I imagined it would be. (I just finished reading Jeremiah, which was very long, but also fairly interesting since there were a lot of battles and kings being dumb.)

Completed: Day 307 of 362

Food Challenge: Sample Every Flavor of Bluebell Ice Cream
Not only did I not try any new flavors in October, but Bluebell has started putting out its fall and winter flavors, and I found another flavor I hadn't heard of: Fudge Divinity. Bluebell, please start making more of your flavors available in pint sizes so I can try more of them without committing to a half-gallon!

P.S. You can get coupons for $1 off on half-gallons right now on the Bluebell website!

P.P.S. Winter flavors means Peppermint and Christmas Cookies are now on shelves, so you should try those.

Completed: 52 out of 70 flavors

Other Adventures
I volunteered to keep the streets clean with Keep Brazos Beautiful. I shared my Reverse Bucket List. I failed at making desserts. I got stabbed. I insisted we all need to go outside more. I spent a long weekend exploring Austin with my home-bees. (Hee.) I did a random good deed. And Elliott had another adventure.

Anybody got an awesome Halloween costume for tonight? Or any fun plans? What challenges or goals are you working on?

  1. That's a lot of challenges to do together, girl! Maybe I should do the Bible challenge. I've been meaning to read the bible again, but I never get to it. Ugh! I'm not sure about trying all the Bluebell Ice Cream flavor though. That's a lot of flavors!! I can't believe you have tried 52/70. Have you come across one you don't like so far?

  2. What can I say, I'm an overachiever. :) I'm not a big fan of coffee, so I didn't like Mocha Almond Fudge. I also didn't like Southern Peach Cobbler or Krazy Kookie Dough. But most of the time their flavors are consistently good! Good luck if you decide to do the Bible challenge!

  3. I had no idea that you were so committed to ice cream sampling! That sounds awesomesauce! But I must go now, so that I can try to scrub the mental image of the fish head soup making out of my brain... Hah.

  4. Mmmm...Christmas Cookies ice cream, is Bluebell a nationwide brand? I will have to check into that! I let Goodreads keep track of my reading challenge for the year since I fell off the wagon blogging it around June. Most of my other goals fell by the wayside. I get to start over again in a few months though!

  6. Hey congrats on cutting out meat!! I'm veg too (I'll have fish on the rare occasion, especially if I'm traveling). I tried twice to go vegan but didn't make it :) But I heard/read that it does take a few times. It's a process.
