A Note for Our Future Selves (Ding Dong The Bathroom's Done!)

Dear Future Allie and Future Matt,

Now that the bathroom renovation is complete, I know you feel like you can tackle any project in the world right now. That's why I'm writing you this letter.

You both find renovation projects to be tedious and painful — even Matt, who is infinitely more patient than you are — and they always take way longer than they should. You both agree that for future major home repairs, you will simply save up the money and pay someone else to do the dirty work for you.

Do not be swayed by your sweet polyurethane painting skillz, or how easy it was to install the tile. Just because those two steps went right doesn't mean you are capable of updating old furniture or building your own armoire, and especially not fixing the kitchen counters by yourselves. Stick to smaller projects, and you'll be much happier.

Your bathroom looks awesome and you should be proud of yourself. But never again. Refer back to this post as needed whenever you get the idea that regular renovating should be a part of your life.

Love, Past Allie
