Life Madness Music

Every once in a while, I get depressed with the state of the world. It's usually after I've spent the week working on my computer, my spare time doing stuff on my phone, and then my evenings killing time on Facebook, when I'll get to the point of "Why do I spend so much time using technology, and why don't I go DO something?" But by the time I think this, I'm already sad and mopey and all I want to do is go for a long drive and get lost somewhere. But Matt wasn't home at the time to go existential driving with me, and we needed food, so instead I drove to the grocery store.

Matt and I were in and out of town a whole lot in January. M had a conference up in Dallas, and we attended several different events for a friend's wedding over various weekends, also in Dallas. It's really nice to stay put for a while. During these little trips, we had been listening to audiobooks to pass the time, but the most recent one (Jeffrey Eugenides' "Middlesex") was maybe a little too weird for Matt's taste, so we stuck to the radio for good road-trip songs instead.

I've been on a folk-music kick lately. Not sure what it is I like about it, but it's home-y and easy to listen to and ... for lack of a better word, nice. The Lumineers played on Saturday Night Live a few weeks ago (when Jennifer Lawrence was hosting), and while I had only ever heard that popular song, I like this one just as much.

What have you been listening to lately? Did you have a good January?
