I Got The Music In Me

I've been taking a couple of dance classes at a local dance studio for the last few months, and I think it's been really good for me. Not even just for exercise and getting out of the house, but because I have always just really loved dancing and I'm happy when I'm there, working up a sweat and challenging myself. I've been taking tap (tap is my favorite) and this Zumba-dance hybrid they call QiDance. Anyway, they play THE best music during both classes. Here's what we've been dancing to lately, and what I am currently obsessing over.

"Bad Timing" — Young Mozart
When this started playing, I could have sworn it was from the Save the Last Dance soundtrack (anyone remember that movie? Julia Stiles pretending to be a hip-hop dancer?) but in a cool, nostalgic way. Couldn't find a video from the actual artist, so here's a guy dancing to it. :) Another cool song by Young Mozart is "Strung Up," which you can listen to here.

"Maahjabi" — Kike Santander
I couldn't find a music video for this one either, so here's a video of people doing the QiDance routine that we do in class. :) I like it because it makes me feel like I could do Bollywood dancing, like on So You Think You Can Dance.

"Hi" — Psapp
I swear I'd heard this before, probably in a different dance class since that's how these things work (like that time I was obsessed with this piece for YEARS after hearing it at a dance competition, then I found out it was on the Requiem for a Dream soundtrack). Anyway, "Hi" is weird and cool. The video is super trippy.

"Santíficame" — Batuka
Okay, this version is in Spanish, but the one we heard in class was the English version. I could not for the life of me figure out what it is called in English, and Batuka is not actually the artist name, but I couldn't figure out who it was either! I used my sound app and YouTube and Wikipedia and iTunes, and then my head exploded so this is what you get.

What new music are you listening to on repeat?
