Cloudy With A Chance of Projects

My sister came to visit me this weekend! I love it when Rachel visits, because three things always happen:
• We go eat sushi. Matt isn't really a big fan, so we leave him at home and head to our favorite inexpensive sushi restaurant.
• We go to Cheddars. It's Rachel's favorite restaurant. We both get chicken fried steak. We let Matt come along.
• We each get supplies for several craft projects and spend the whole weekend building, painting, glueing, sewing and watching marathons of our favorite shows. (This weekend, it was The Big Bang Theory.)

Enjoying the beautiful weather and doing three projects at once.

I only had one major project I wanted to complete, and it gets its own post since I've been thinking about it for so long. But Rachel had a few different projects she worked on. Her apartment doesn't have enough seating space for her to have many people over at a time, so she took some regular-sized pillows and seam-ripped them apart, sewed them together and created giant pillowcases to make two humongous floor pillows like these, but in teal and orange:

She also found this project on Pinterest and wanted to make one in more orange-y tones so it would match her decor better.

I didn't get a pic of the final project (I don't think she was super thrilled about how it turned out, and it was MESSY), but here's the canvas after we palette-knifed the heck out of it.

It also happened to be Rachel's birthday, so we got a cookie cake and Happy Tracks ice cream. She told us not to sing happy birthday to her, so instead we sang "Feliz Cumpleaños." (Which is happy birthday in Spanish. I don't know all the words.)

I don't know why she's making such a creepy face.

The three of us finished off the whole cookie cake in two days.

We've already got plans for the next time I visit her: reupholstering some furniture!

How was your weekend?

  4. Feliz Cumpleaños a tu, Feliz Cumpleaños a tu, Feliz Cumpleaños a (name), Feliz Cumpleaños a tu. And thus concludes everything I remember from taking Spanish 1 three times in High School.

  6. It all looks great! I have never ending projects as well, now especially thanks to Pinterest. I am working on making pillows out of old sweaters. Let me know when you finish the upholstering project, b/c I will need help with a chair. lol. so I'll need your experience.

    1. She finished it this weekend. I did nothing to gain experience, but I'll still come help you if you want!
