How to kill your plants

On Friday morning, I went out onto the balcony to water my plants, and I was so excited! The green pot on the right had these teensy little green leaves poking out of the potting soil! I had done something right!

Since I planted them, I have been diligently watering these little seeds every day, and they've been getting plenty of sunlight. I was so pleased to see results.

And then I went out of town for two days. When I got back, I ran out to the balcony and the soil was bone dry. My little green sapling in the right pot was gone.

I'm trying not to be sad about it. The seed packets said that it would likely take between two and three weeks for anything to sprout, and since it's only been about a week, I suppose I should hold out hope that they still might grow? Is that being naive?

I'm going to keep watering them and see if anything happens. If not, I'll go pick up some more seeds. And maybe those water globes I've seen on infomercials. My Nana swears they work miracles, and these poor seeds could probably use one.

Do you know anything about plants? Has my black thumb struck again?

  1. What I know about plants is that fake ones are much harder to kill. ;)

I have heard good things about those watering globes though! I think then you don't have to worry about under or over watering, because the soil just soaks up however much it needs.

    Good luck!

  2. @Morgan, HA true. Thank you for reminding me why I deal primarily in fake flowers and plants. :)

  3. I have a HORRIBLE black thumb. I'm currently trying to revive my ferns. Yes, ferns. They aren't terribly hard to keep. Good luck with your plants!
