How Sweet It Is

I have a massive sweet tooth. It is dangerous to leave chocolate within a half-mile radius of me, because I will find it, and I will eat it.

Ever since I first moved to this town and lived on my own, I just flat-out refused to keep sugary foods in the house. It's safer for everyone this way. I'm much less likely to eat dessert if I have to go buy it first, because I'm cheap and lazy.

I started buying Nutella as a way of keeping me out of the candy jar at work. I always get hungry mid-morning and mid-afternoon, and that jar of Milky Ways and 3 Musketeers beckoned constantly. I found that if I just got some Nutella and spread it on a rice cake and ate that instead, not only was I satisfied, but I didn't feel the need to go get candy.

This week on a whim I grabbed a jar at the grocery store. It had been a little while since I'd had any, and since I still try to keep dessert-stuffs out of the house, I was excited to have a nice, "healthier" treat that I could have once in a while.

"Once in a while" turned into eating it straight out of the jar with a spoon.

I don't think this counts as "healthier."

Do you love dessert like me? Do you love Nutella? Matt thinks it's disgusting, so I get the whole jar to myself. :)

  1. I adore anything related to chocolate. Which makes it pretty surprising that I've never tried Nutella! I will have to buy some the next time I'm at the grocery store!

  2. I don't keep sugary foods in the house and I don't allow myself to buy them. If I want dessert, I have to make the effort to make it! And sometimes, this theory has worked, and I've been to lazy to make brownies so I'd just go without. :)

Nutella is delicious, I've been bookmarking a lot of Nutella recipes recently!

  3. HAHAHA - I seriously laughed at "Once in a while" turned into eating it straight out of the jar with a spoon. I actually don't think I've ever had Nutella.

We try to keep chocolates and candy out of the apartment, but when my husband brings some home from work I'll always eat it.

  4. My Matt has really good self control. He'll bring home a bag of candy, eat one piece, and then be done. Leaving me to finish all of the reeses during the course of the weekend...

  5. I have a killer sweet tooth!! I have to refrain from purchasing sugary stuff for the house because I will inhale it all. in a few days. Sigh...

I love, love, love, love peanut butter, but never had Nutella before. I'm currently on an almond butter kick though...

  7. How can he not like Nutella? I LOVE Nutella. It is best in crepes! That's the way I first had it when I was in France and had no idea what that magical taste was. I buy it every once in a while and put it on toast. It's hard to keep it in the house because I WILL eat LOTS of it. If I put it on a "healthy life" piece of bread that's smaller and less carbs then it's all good, right?!
