This weekend, we had some houseguests! Matt's best friend since fifth grade and his wife came down to see us for the weekend. Prior to their visit, Matt and I decided that just for this weekend, we were not going to be our normal park-on-the-couch, watch-too-much-TV couple. No. We were going to be THE COOL COUPLE, the one that always does fun things and has awesome ideas and plans all sorts of crazy experiences for our guests.
Of course, they thought this was hilarious when we told them that was the plan. Because they like to play video games, and they know just how hard it is to get off the couch sometimes.
But just for the weekend, we had big plans. We hung out at a pool hall and listened to some bad karaoke. We went out to eat German food. We played glow-in-the-dark mini golf and laser tag when it ended up being too hot to go play disc golf. We went salsa dancing way past our bedtimes, and then when we got home still wired after the night out, we drank delicious wine and played board games until we were delirious from lack of sleep.
And when they left yesterday, we were sad. Of course because they're our friends and we like them, but also because we've found that we really like having couple friends to hang out with. I don't think we get to hang out with other couples as much as we'd like to, and I think we both like the idea of going out with friends and doing things we wouldn't normally do when it's just the two of us.
Do you and your partner have couple friends? What do you like to do when you have friends to visit?
So glad you had a nice weekend with your friends! Love spending times with other couples.

That sounds like a super fun weekend! I've always wanted to try salsa dancing. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure which was more fun — actually dancing, or watching the people that were crazy good at it! I don't know how they do it, but it was awesome. You should definitely give it a try if you have a chance!
DeleteI totally know what you mean! We have a few couple friends in town, but everyone's so busy that we don't get together very often--like once every two months or something like that. It's sad! Most of the time we just hang out at home or when we go out on the town its just the two of us. I'm super shy when you first meet me too so I have a hard time making friends.
ReplyDeleteAw, but you're like the sweetest person! I would be friends with you IRL. :)
DeleteWe used to hang out with other couples all the time, but then we got to that age where a lot of them started having kids, and it's just harder to get together regularly. Everyone's just busy! Aaaand we're not really, heh.
I loove hanging out with other couple friends! We have this couple we go out to dinner with once every couple weeks and I love it. We need to do more daytime things with them, though. We have grand dreams of doing BBQs, last-minute kickball games, and dinner parties with other couples - it takes a long time to build those relationships, though!
ReplyDeleteThat's so fun that you get to see them so often!
DeleteWhat a fun weekend! We love hanging out with couple friends, but they live hours away (and the ones here have a baby, so it's hard for them to go out).
