My Sister Made Me This Dress

Over the weekend, my mom and sister came to visit me. (You know the story: they cleaned out my closet and then we did lots of shopping. This is what we do.)

Well, my sister had been working on a project for one of her fashion design classes for a couple of months, and once it was finished and graded, she altered it so it would fit me. (I tried it on a while back when she was working on the muslin, so she knew what needed to be done.)

And that's how I got this va-va-voom peplum party dress.

She just blows me away with her talent. I can barely sew straight lines.

So anyway. Now I have this gorgeous dress, and I have absolutely no occasions for which I can wear it. I don't know if it should be considered "formal" or "semi-formal," or whether it would be appropriate for a wedding (basically the only fancy events I ever attend). Or where else it would be appropriate to wear.

What do you think? Where would you wear a dress like this?

  1. That is adorable! Your sister has major talent. I would think it's okay for weddings, or maybe even Christmas parties, since it's red.

  2. Super cute! I agree with ^^; and you can also wear it out to fancy dinners too! We do that sometimes, overdress for a date just because we can :)
    You look great!

  4. I definitely would wear this to a wedding! If it's colder out, I'd throw a cardigan over it. Your sister is SO talented!

    1. Great idea! I have a couple of black & white and neutral-colored cardigans that would probably look good over it.
