"I'm a Hologram!" - Liz Lemon

On Saturday, I got my first-ever jury summons in the mail. Matt says now I'm finally a real grown-up. :) He got his first one — from our hometown — when he was a freshman in college, and he tried to tell them he was in school, but it turned out his summons was for like, the beginning of January and they were like, nope, you're on Christmas break and you're coming in.

Everyone always seems to be super bummed when they get jury duty, so of course when I saw the summons I was like, "aw man, jury duty!" But really, I'm kind of excited since this has never happened before.

So I won't be doing any of this:

Or this:

And instead I will happily wait for hours with a good book and accept my $6 or whatever at the end of the day. (Okay maybe not happily. I do get bored kind of easily.)

(And hopefully I won't get picked, because I can't even watch crime shows on TV because they freak me out.)

Have you ever been summoned for jury duty? Anyone ever been chosen as a juror?

  1. I have been summoned no less than THREE times, including one federal summons! Fortunately, I was attending an out-of-state school every time, so it never came to pass. The streak lives on!

    1. What the what! :-D I wonder how they select people, or if it's totally arbitrary.

  2. Wow, this is your FIRST summons? I got my first one almost two months after I turned 18! I still get them for my hometown, even though it hasn't been my legal address for seven years (get it together, court system)! I've never had to actually report, though.

    2. Haha, no prob, I figured it was you when I saw the name. Is the old one the address on your drivers' license? I still use my parents' address for things from my college and stuff, because I've moved a few times since then, but finally registered to vote here/changed my DL after I got married. And well here we are.

  4. I've never got a jury summons, I'm so jealous! It's unlikely I'll ever get picked for a jury, but I would love to serve on one, I obviously like the judicial system :)

    1. I think it would be really interesting to serve, as long as it was some kind of small civil case and not like a drug or violence trial. I'm sure someday you'll get a shot. :)
